Junior Civic Membership Spotlight for October:
Nassau Shores, please let me introduce you to Ella and Liam Haney. Ella is 9 and Liam is 5, both are Unqua students as of this year. Ella started doing her lemonade stands when she was 5 and donating the money to a special cause.
One of their cousins was diagnosed with leukemia at a very young age. Childhood cancer research has always been a cause Ella, Liam and their family have supported. Lorraine, Ella’s mom, spoke to her daughter about Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer’s mission, which is to raise awareness and fund research in regards to childhood cancer as well as support the children and their families in their fight. Ella was all about raising money to help this organization and that’s where our lemonade proceeds have gone for the past four lemonade stands. Liam, who was only a baby when Ella started this endeavor, has jumped in to help out in every way and most neighbors can hear him chanting, “Get your lemonade, it’s for a good cause,” as they walk or drive by. This year, they raised $82 with the help of all of our generous neighbors and their parents will match what they raised, so Infinite Love will be getting $164 from their lemonade stand this year.
Additionally, Ella is working on a Spare Change fundraiser for her Girl Scout Troop. She will be donating all of the proceeds collected to the St. Rose of Lima Parish Outreach Program and Canine companions.

Do you want to make a difference in your community? The NSCA Junior Civic members can earn community service hours while contributing to causes, volunteering in the neighborhood or working on a special project that helps everybody in the community.
In addition to the community service hours, two members will have a half page article in the tide showcasing their contributions and here on our website.
